And baby makes FOUR!

As I return to the Wakebaby Blog, it is for a very exciting and new reason: Wakebaby #2! That's right, baby B will be a big brother sometime around JUNE 2014! So excited! We aren't sure exactly when you are due yet. We got our first BFP last night (10/9/13) but I messed up the test a little bit. Daddy was so excited he ran to the drug store at 11pm and bought one of the pregnancy tests and that tells you how far along you are. This one said: "Pregnant 1-2 weeks"

Ahhhhhh so exited!! Can't wait to "see" you on our first ultrasound :-D

A message from Daddy - Week 28

Hello dear child!

As with my last letter, much has happened since I last wrote to you!  You are now about the size of an eggplant - over 12 inches long, weighing in at about 2 pounds, and sporting a rather bodacious purple skin! Don't worry - that will turn into an adorable pink-shaded peach color that will have all the ladies fawning over you in no time.  Your momma and I have continued to prepare for your arrival - especially now that it's a mere 12 weeks away!  We've got your crib and dresser/changing table picked out, and we're planning to get them both soon.  Once we have those things, your room will really start to take shape!  We've also got some GREAT onesies and Little Man clothes for you to wear.  I'm especially fired up about the baseball clothes we've got for you!

I've been trying to talk to you - I think you're getting to know the sound of my voice - and last night I was rubbing cocoa butter on your momma's belly when you started kicking my hand!  Do you remember me pushing (oh so gently) back with my fingers and getting you to move some more? It was one of the most amazing things I've ever experienced in my life - seeing you respond to my hand! I was in awe of how aware you are already.  Now, I just need to make good on my promise to your mother that I'm going to catch up on my baby books - I was doing so well before the move!  I should get on that soon because we are getting ready to start classes at the hospital to prepare for you, little one!  We're going to learn about the birth, how to get ready for you as a newborn, how to perform infant CPR and so many more exciting (and kind of terrifying) things.  Hopefully we won't have to the infant CPR, but we need to be prepared.

Your mother and I have calmed down on trying to choose your name, as we have settled on about 5 strong candidates (for both first and middle names) that both of us really like.  I think we are going to wait to name you until we meet you, as I don't anticipate one name, or a new name, jumping out at us much more than it as already.  We haven't shared any of our names with anyone yet - it's kind of bad luck - so, on top of the joy of simply holding you - we can't wait to name you!

We are also planning the visits of all your grandparents and aunts and uncles for after you are born.  You are going to wear us out, and we're trying to enlist some help around the house for those first couple months.  I'm excited to take off as much time as I can to be with you all the time for the first three or four weeks after you are born.  Your momma is going to be exhausted after giving birth to you, and I want to be around to help her sleep and to get to know you and watch you grow!  There will be lots of father-son reading and napping in our future.

Other than that, we are just really excited for you to finally be here!  I know your momma and I are supposed to cherish this time (and we do), but we are just so ready for you to be here.

We love you!

Your father,

Conor

Baby Questionaire (almost) - Week 27

How far along? 28 weeks tomorrow. Only 85 days left!
Total weight gain: I think around 15 pounds, but it fluctuates a LOT!
Maternity clothes? I've found lots of cute winter maternity clothes, but summer clothes have been difficult. I mostly lounge around in Daddy's big t-shirts during the week, so I only need a few maternity clothes for the weekends and I have those. STILL have not found a pair of maternity shorts I like!! Been living in athletic shorts and maternity capris.
Stretch marks? Nope! But daddy is AWESOME about putting Queen Helene cocoa butter on mah bellah (that stuff is worth it's weight in gold... even better that it's only $1.98 at Walmart!)
Sleep: Tons of napping! I honestly don't know how I would be able to teach while pregnant. I sleep 9 hours at night, then at noonish every day I feel like my eyelids are filled with lead and I can't keep them open.
Best moment this week: Aunt Robin was here for a visit! It was great to visit and shop with her. We worked hard to turn her into a dog person even though she is definitely NOT! Then we decided to just relax this weekend and slept in and vegged out since we haven't done that since we started home ownership. I know the WakeBaby will not allow much sleeping in so it was glorious!
Miss Anything? Now that I'm feeling better, beer and other summer alcoholic drinks are looking delish! Your daddy had a sip of Aunt Robin's beer at lunch and loved it... he hasn't had a sip of alcohol since the super bowl!
Movement:
TONS of movement!! All hours of the day and night. Big kicks, little flutters, somersaults, you name it. Must be all the olympics we've been watching!
Food cravings: Nothing weird at all. Last week we discovered Texas shaved ice and OMG. It is so cold and refreshing to this preggy lady.
Anything making you queasy or sick: No not really.
Gender: For sure a boy. No sweet cravings whatsoever, but bring on the kettle chips!
Labor Signs: None, wahoo! Also passed my glucose and iron tests with flying colors.
Symptoms: Lots of belly movement, and extreme hormones. Laughing one minute, crying the next for no reason.
Belly Button in or out? innie
Wedding rings on or off? engagement ring on, wedding ring off. But that will be changing as soon as I can find a bigger band. I hate the idea of cutting my engagement ring off D-:
Happy or Moody most of the time: Up and down, but mostly happy.
Looking forward to: Very excited to start our first of 6 baby classes this week!

Baby Questionaire - Week 22

How far along? 22 weeks, 4 days.
Total weight gain: I think I'm up about 12 pounds, but I just ate a huge chicken pot pie so that may be throwing it off some :)
Maternity clothes? I have been SO lucky to find some real gems at garage sales. Which means I have gotten a lot of maternity clothes from $1-$2 each! I've also picked up a few pieces here and there. I've been wearing my old baggy t-shirts around the house during the week then wearing maternity clothes when we go out and I have to be presentable. I can still get away with lots of my old clothes.
Stretch marks? none yet
Sleep: Lots of napping! Sleeping at night has been hit or miss. I haven't been the crazy peeing lady where I have to get up constantly... YET.
Best moment this week: We got to explore our new city... McKinney for the first time! Zach and Mel called us to meet at Square Burger in downtown McKinney and we were amazed what a cool city we live in! I can't wait to put you in a stroller and walk around downtown with Daddy!
Miss Anything? Summer Shandy, my favorite beer, seems to be out and about in every restaurant we go to. I miss that a little (and I know your dad does too!) But we are more than half way there!
Movement:
My first real kicking feeling was after a wonderful lunch of Shrimp Fra Viavolo at Brio Restaurant! Since then I've felt small flutters and mini kicks but nothing too major yet... hoping the next few weeks will bring more kicks.
Food cravings: A1 STEAK SAUCE!! On everything! I think you are going to come out with an A1 mustache :)
Anything making you queasy or sick: I made your daddy some guacamole and avocado is not my friend. Yikes!
Gender: You are officially a boy! You were not shy at all about showing us. Years from now, I imagine you bragging about the sonographer being able to tell you were a boy at 11 weeks (heheh)
Labor Signs: None, wahoo!
Symptoms: Lots of back pain. It seems like the instant I get in bed my back is stiff and sore, and getting in and out of bed is the most painful time of day. I've also had some shooting pains in my uterus, but I can only hope it is you growing up!
Belly Button in or out? innie
Wedding rings on or off? engagement ring on, wedding ring off :( I think engagement ring will be off soon too
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy but tired from moving
Looking forward to: Getting the house ready for visitors, going to my friend Kate's little girl (Chloe)'s 1st birthday next weekend :)

Daddy's 22 week post

Hello baby boy!

I know it's been a long time - Daddy promises he will be a better co-blogger for your Momma the last 17 weeks of her pregnancy.  First, off - congratulations!  You're officially a boy!  We are so excited for you!  We've been thinking about names for you, sweet papaya, but I don't think we're ready to share them just yet.  We know we have 3 or 4 we really like, and we know you are going to like them to.

The most exciting thing that has happened since I last wrote to you is I got to see you for the first time!  I went with your Momma to her 20 week appointment in June and I got to see you on the ultrasound!  Do you remember that?  You were so cute and feisty - you were kicking and hiding your face with your hands, and flexing your hands for us.  You're quite the show-off!  And that's when we found out you were going to be a boy - sitting together in a cold doctor's office, holding hands, your Momma's tummy covered in goo.  And since then, your Momma and I have been able to feel you kicking and moving around inside her belly.  Thank you for that!  We know you're doing well when we can feel you through her tummy.  Can you hear me when I talk to you through her belly and wish you a good night?  I've been talking to you so you get to know my voice.  I can't wait to hold you and look upon your face for the first time.  That will be one of the best moments of my life.

We have some other exciting news for you - in her last post your Momma mentioned we had put a bid in on a house in McKinney.  Maybe you felt all the walking and moving around we've done since then?  Well, we have our very own house!  We are trying to get everything just right and ready for you.  We've painted your room and your Momma has some GREAT ideas for how to decorate it.  You're going to love it.  And we've been slowly collecting all the things we'll need to keep you happy and healthy - swings, playsets, toys, cribs, a glider, diapers, onesies and tons of cute clothes - you are going to be the sharpest dressed baby this side of the Rio Grande!

Your Grandma and Grandpa Wakeman and your Great Aunt Robin are coming to visit you soon - so get to know their voices!  They are excited to meet you after you are born as well, but they also want to see your room and the new house.  Your Momma and Daddy haven't had any visitors since we moved, and we are excited to finally finish unpacking and begin putting together the final details on your room.

Your Momma has been feeling better lately, and she hasn't had any "weird" cravings - except for fishsticks and steak sauce.  Though I hesitate to call that weird since it is so delicious!  (You will soon discover your old man eats anything and everything - hopefully you will be the same way!)  She has just been craving the same thing we always eat, luckily for us.  We've been planning out how we are going to feed you, since we know you are going to be one hungry little guy.  Your Momma has found loads of great baby food ideas - we can't to have you try them (and try them with you, I'm sure).

Anyway, I should probably get back to work!  I'm so excited for this weekend with your Momma - it's her birthday on Monday!  I'm going to bake a cake for her (with her help).  It's also your big brother Breslin's birthday!  I know you two are coming to be fast friends - I'm sure the first time he licks your head you are going to be Mr. Gigglepants.

I love you!

Your loving father,

Conor

Baby Questionaire - Week 14

How far along? 14 weeks, 1 day.
Total weight gain: I've lost about 9 pounds since my last doctor's appointment... somewhat worrysome.
Maternity clothes? Grandma Hayes has purchased a few great pieces for me, and I've picked up a few things from garage sales.
Stretch marks? none yet
Sleep: Naps are my friend. I've been out of control tired on certain nights. Last Sunday at around 7pm, I felt like I had been hit by a Mack truck and couldn't even keep my eyes open!
Best moment this week: We had a great night out with our friends, Zach and Mel for Cinco De Mayo. It hit me during dinner that this would be our LAST Cinco De Mayo without our little WakeBaby! SO EXCITED!! It somewhat dulled the pain of not being able to celebrate this holiday with a Mojito ;)
Miss Anything? Everything in moderation! Sipped a little caffeine here and there, gave in to my intense cravings for lunch meat. The only thing I missed is a Mojito for Cinco De Mayo.
Movement:
None, yet.
Food cravings: Cravings have been a little less intense as of late. This has been great because I have been able to sneak a few more veggies into our dinner routine.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Raw meat grosses me out! That's all that's coming to mind right now.
Gender: Hubby and I are both still thinking girl. The EXTREMELY early 11 week sonographer said 95% accuracy... a boy. Either way, we will be happy! We'll find out in about 6 weeks.
Labor Signs: None.
Symptoms: Nauseous, dizzy, tired constantly.
Belly Button in or out? innie
Wedding rings on or off? on
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy but tired
Looking forward to: *Hopefully* closing on our new house on Friday! It will be the first house your daddy and I own together. AND it will be the house that is where your nursery will be :)

Daddy's Post: Week 14

Hello Little One!

You're not so little anymore - in fact, you're about the size of a rather large Meyer lemon!  Last week you were a peach, this week a lemon.  I'm thinking grapefruit next week!  Your rapidly growing size aside, you seem to be bothering your Momma less and less (knock on wood) the past two weeks!  She's been happier, less nauseous and more active.  She still has terrible moments of nausea and dizziness - which are sometimes brought on, unfortunately, by your truly - but overall things are looking up!

This could also be an exciting week in the Wakeman household because we are supposed to close on our house in McKinney on Friday!  That means, fingers crossed, that by the time we find out in Week 20 whether you will be a boy or girl, we will be living in our own home!  I know your Momma is VERY excited and anxious to get started on decorating and making the house ready for you, and your room in particular.  She has so many good ideas for how to decorate your room, and I can't wait to see how it turns out.  She's very creative and smart, and I can only hope you get those traits as well.

With your Momma feeling better, we've been able to go the dog park and out to dinner with some friends of ours.  They said they're very excited to meet you, and we are as well!  At this point, almost (if not all) of your systems are functioning, and now from here it's just downhill to the finish.  Between you and me, can you please go easy on your Momma during the next 3 months?  She deserves a little break to feel good in her own body again.  After all, she's carrying you around everywhere!  I can't imagine how that must feel, but we (and your Momma in particular) love you very much already!

We've also been able to go to some garage sales on the last two Saturdays - something with which you will become very familiar - and we've got some awesome stuff for you!  It's been two great weekends.  We got your stroller and car seat, a glider for us to rock you to sleep on, clothes, a swinging chair, a chest carrier, and lots of other good stuff!  We can't wait to share our world with you, and make you part of it.

Well, I've got to get back to work so I can spend as much time with you as possible the weeks after you're born.  I'm so excited. Only 26 more weeks!

I love you!

Your father,

Conor
