A message from Daddy - Week 28

Hello dear child!

As with my last letter, much has happened since I last wrote to you!  You are now about the size of an eggplant - over 12 inches long, weighing in at about 2 pounds, and sporting a rather bodacious purple skin! Don't worry - that will turn into an adorable pink-shaded peach color that will have all the ladies fawning over you in no time.  Your momma and I have continued to prepare for your arrival - especially now that it's a mere 12 weeks away!  We've got your crib and dresser/changing table picked out, and we're planning to get them both soon.  Once we have those things, your room will really start to take shape!  We've also got some GREAT onesies and Little Man clothes for you to wear.  I'm especially fired up about the baseball clothes we've got for you!

I've been trying to talk to you - I think you're getting to know the sound of my voice - and last night I was rubbing cocoa butter on your momma's belly when you started kicking my hand!  Do you remember me pushing (oh so gently) back with my fingers and getting you to move some more? It was one of the most amazing things I've ever experienced in my life - seeing you respond to my hand! I was in awe of how aware you are already.  Now, I just need to make good on my promise to your mother that I'm going to catch up on my baby books - I was doing so well before the move!  I should get on that soon because we are getting ready to start classes at the hospital to prepare for you, little one!  We're going to learn about the birth, how to get ready for you as a newborn, how to perform infant CPR and so many more exciting (and kind of terrifying) things.  Hopefully we won't have to the infant CPR, but we need to be prepared.

Your mother and I have calmed down on trying to choose your name, as we have settled on about 5 strong candidates (for both first and middle names) that both of us really like.  I think we are going to wait to name you until we meet you, as I don't anticipate one name, or a new name, jumping out at us much more than it as already.  We haven't shared any of our names with anyone yet - it's kind of bad luck - so, on top of the joy of simply holding you - we can't wait to name you!

We are also planning the visits of all your grandparents and aunts and uncles for after you are born.  You are going to wear us out, and we're trying to enlist some help around the house for those first couple months.  I'm excited to take off as much time as I can to be with you all the time for the first three or four weeks after you are born.  Your momma is going to be exhausted after giving birth to you, and I want to be around to help her sleep and to get to know you and watch you grow!  There will be lots of father-son reading and napping in our future.

Other than that, we are just really excited for you to finally be here!  I know your momma and I are supposed to cherish this time (and we do), but we are just so ready for you to be here.

We love you!

Your father,

Conor

Baby Questionaire (almost) - Week 27

How far along? 28 weeks tomorrow. Only 85 days left!
Total weight gain: I think around 15 pounds, but it fluctuates a LOT!
Maternity clothes? I've found lots of cute winter maternity clothes, but summer clothes have been difficult. I mostly lounge around in Daddy's big t-shirts during the week, so I only need a few maternity clothes for the weekends and I have those. STILL have not found a pair of maternity shorts I like!! Been living in athletic shorts and maternity capris.
Stretch marks? Nope! But daddy is AWESOME about putting Queen Helene cocoa butter on mah bellah (that stuff is worth it's weight in gold... even better that it's only $1.98 at Walmart!)
Sleep: Tons of napping! I honestly don't know how I would be able to teach while pregnant. I sleep 9 hours at night, then at noonish every day I feel like my eyelids are filled with lead and I can't keep them open.
Best moment this week: Aunt Robin was here for a visit! It was great to visit and shop with her. We worked hard to turn her into a dog person even though she is definitely NOT! Then we decided to just relax this weekend and slept in and vegged out since we haven't done that since we started home ownership. I know the WakeBaby will not allow much sleeping in so it was glorious!
Miss Anything? Now that I'm feeling better, beer and other summer alcoholic drinks are looking delish! Your daddy had a sip of Aunt Robin's beer at lunch and loved it... he hasn't had a sip of alcohol since the super bowl!
Movement:
TONS of movement!! All hours of the day and night. Big kicks, little flutters, somersaults, you name it. Must be all the olympics we've been watching!
Food cravings: Nothing weird at all. Last week we discovered Texas shaved ice and OMG. It is so cold and refreshing to this preggy lady.
Anything making you queasy or sick: No not really.
Gender: For sure a boy. No sweet cravings whatsoever, but bring on the kettle chips!
Labor Signs: None, wahoo! Also passed my glucose and iron tests with flying colors.
Symptoms: Lots of belly movement, and extreme hormones. Laughing one minute, crying the next for no reason.
Belly Button in or out? innie
Wedding rings on or off? engagement ring on, wedding ring off. But that will be changing as soon as I can find a bigger band. I hate the idea of cutting my engagement ring off D-:
Happy or Moody most of the time: Up and down, but mostly happy.
Looking forward to: Very excited to start our first of 6 baby classes this week!
