Hello dear child!
As with my last letter, much has happened since I last wrote to you! You are now about the size of an eggplant - over 12 inches long, weighing in at about 2 pounds, and sporting a rather bodacious purple skin! Don't worry - that will turn into an adorable pink-shaded peach color that will have all the ladies fawning over you in no time. Your momma and I have continued to prepare for your arrival - especially now that it's a mere 12 weeks away! We've got your crib and dresser/changing table picked out, and we're planning to get them both soon. Once we have those things, your room will really start to take shape! We've also got some GREAT onesies and Little Man clothes for you to wear. I'm especially fired up about the baseball clothes we've got for you!
I've been trying to talk to you - I think you're getting to know the sound of my voice - and last night I was rubbing cocoa butter on your momma's belly when you started kicking my hand! Do you remember me pushing (oh so gently) back with my fingers and getting you to move some more? It was one of the most amazing things I've ever experienced in my life - seeing you respond to my hand! I was in awe of how aware you are already. Now, I just need to make good on my promise to your mother that I'm going to catch up on my baby books - I was doing so well before the move! I should get on that soon because we are getting ready to start classes at the hospital to prepare for you, little one! We're going to learn about the birth, how to get ready for you as a newborn, how to perform infant CPR and so many more exciting (and kind of terrifying) things. Hopefully we won't have to the infant CPR, but we need to be prepared.
Your mother and I have calmed down on trying to choose your name, as we have settled on about 5 strong candidates (for both first and middle names) that both of us really like. I think we are going to wait to name you until we meet you, as I don't anticipate one name, or a new name, jumping out at us much more than it as already. We haven't shared any of our names with anyone yet - it's kind of bad luck - so, on top of the joy of simply holding you - we can't wait to name you!
We are also planning the visits of all your grandparents and aunts and uncles for after you are born. You are going to wear us out, and we're trying to enlist some help around the house for those first couple months. I'm excited to take off as much time as I can to be with you all the time for the first three or four weeks after you are born. Your momma is going to be exhausted after giving birth to you, and I want to be around to help her sleep and to get to know you and watch you grow! There will be lots of father-son reading and napping in our future.
Other than that, we are just really excited for you to finally be here! I know your momma and I are supposed to cherish this time (and we do), but we are just so ready for you to be here.
We love you!
Your father,
Conor
